Sharon speaks at Macquarie University
This month, I had the pleasure of speaking to students at Macquarie University on the importance of personal branding. The advent of digital media has dramatically changed the work landscape and the job opportunities it provides.
Today, students face an exciting but challenging career path. To help them navigate this path and avoid treacherous potholes, I advised the students on how to be themselves with purpose as guest lecturer of the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies.
The speed and scope of digital media has made it more crucial than ever to protect and manage your personal brand. In my presentation, I spoke of the need to build a digital resume that will reflect one’s personal brand and open up greater career opportunities – not close them.
The feedback from the event was encouraging. I was especially delighted to hear that being a business owner and Mum had the greatest impact on female students.
Commenting on the presentation university lecturer Dr Susie Khamis wrote, “Thank you for such a fantastic presentation. The reviews are in - you were an absolute hit. I was particularly impressed to see just how many female students were so inspired and excited, you really are a fantastic role model. I truly appreciate the time and energy you've committed to this course, and I know the students gain so much.”
Thank you Susie! Speaking to students is always a rewarding experience. After 18 years, it is lovely to know you can share it with the future generation of PR and marketing whizzes.
