I was touched in a very special way this holiday weekend
14/06/11: I was touched in a very special way this holiday weekend
I had a very special thing happen to me this weekend. My husband, sitting over lunch with our 10 year old son, suggested he may need my skills and I may even be interested to invest in a new business venture with him and a friend.
He is cautious and conservative. It struck a deep chord. Why? Not least because we have been separated for over five years. But mostly because here was someone very close to me, who’s known me for some 25 years since the beginning of my career when I was just a rookie (and lived with me through the ups and downs of child rearing and separation) who was prepared to back me and endorse my skills personally and professionally. I don’t know that it gets much better in life to be surrounded by loyalty from those closest to us.
It brought home how important it is to have those around us - who care for us - endorse and support us. No competition, no rivalry, no segregated effort, but endorsement and commitment. A badge of honour.
Life is short. There is no time to be around those who don’t support you and help you on your journey. The world is a better place when surrounded by people who know you well, support you and back you wholeheartedly.
Who is backing you?
